Wire work is fun but hard!

As some of you may know, my twin sister is an amazing jeweler/beader/designer/creator. I recently taught her some crochet and she picked it up so quickly it boggled my little mind. Sooooo! i thought.. hmm.. maybe this could be a two way street? ![]()
So on thursday I asked if Joules would give me a little lesson in the basics of wire work. [Translation: Please let me play around with all your pretty beads, wire, crytals and pearls!] I swear my sister owns enough stones, beads, wire, fastenings to own her own bead store.
She set me up w/ a mini anvil, 1 a hammer, several types of plyers, wire cutters, and showed me where to begin.
The first thing I tried to make were some leaf-y like earrings, as seen above. The wire was harder to manipulate than i had expected. Joules makes it look so easy! A flick of her wrist, and Poof! It’s bent into a beautiful curvy arc! Ehhhhhh, not quite so easy
But, in spite of my fumbly fingers, I manage to make a lovely little pair of earrings. It’s a bit sloppy in parts, but I’m estatic at such a good first attempt!
My next project I wanted to work on was a necklace I’d had in mind for a while. I was envisioning delicate blue flower petals of some kind, so I set to work! I accidentally grabbed a smaller gauge wire than intended for the frame, so it was even harder to work with. I was so worried I’d snap it while hammering!! However, I think the delicate frame ended up matching the necklace rather nicely.
Again Joules was nice enough to let me raid her pearls and crystals to complete the peice and helped me w/ the clasp fastening.
I never thought I could make anything like this so I’m all kinds of excited!! I asked Joules to buy me some wire next time she’s at work and i borrowed her spare anvil and hammer and I’m going to experiment some more! I love hobbies
! And I love creating!! Thank you Julianne for teaching me a new artform!
Tomorrow Andy and I are going on a picnic to the lake! I’m ever so excited <3! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend where ever you are.
