I’m having all sorts of website problems. In fact, in the course of writing this post, I’ve discovered my CSS is broken somehow lol! I forgot it was CSS Naked Day! Gotta love the WP plugin!
But that’s not what this post is about.
This post is about a recent email chain between Canaca.com and myself over the last week as I’ve struggled to get my two addon domains (twinlove and earthjoules) back up and running.
Recently I changed my hosting package over to Holdfire, (thank heavens), but my domains could not be switched as it’s a service they don’t offer at this time.
While I was changing the name servers for crumpledpaper.ca, i guess i forgot to change them for the other domains. Bad Christine! But they were only suspended last weekend so I didn’t make the connection. I was worried it had something to do w/ Holdfire, but Jordan pointed me in the right direction (thanks!) and so begins the long process of trying to get the login/password for the two domains.
I open up the exchange by submitting a ticket that says:
Hello!
My addon domains have been suspended! Can I please have the login/passwords for twinlove.ca and earthjoules.com?Thanks!

They reply:
Hello,
I sent your addon domains login information to their contact email addresses:
twinlove.ca >> (my email address)
earthjoules.com >> (twin’s email address)With this information please login on the below link and change your DNS server:

Okay, okay, at this point i’m okay. Joules originally purchased EJ so it makes sense that it would go to her, and I have her password so it’s not a big deal. I received the TL login right away, (in three emails!) so I go check her email and there’s nothing! I wait a day, and still nothing.
So I reply:

recieved nothing at my joulesrocks acct. Is there anyway you could send it
to this one?
They reply:

They’re still not coming through. So I reply:
I don’t know why but they’re just not coming through. I’ve attatched a
screen shot of my email screen showing my mail for the last however long.
I’ve also checked the junk to make sure it isn’t be filtered by accident.
Please change earthjoules contact info to this email address or give me the
steps on how to change the email. This site has been down for almost a
week. I’ve paid for the domain and I’d like to resolve this as quickly as
possible.Thanks,

I’m getting a little annoyed at this point, but before I reply they send this:
Hello,
To change your domain contact email, please provide us with a photo ID of ‘Julianne McCallum’ for confirmation, then we will change it from “joulesrocks@homtail.com” to “poetess@shaw.ca”.
By the way,I sent the login information again. Please recheck your email.

Now I’m past annoyed and I kind of freak out.
You have got to be kidding. You don’t even ask for ID to set up accounts or
make payments! I’ve been paying for these domains for three years now and
your emails are not reaching that email account. I don’t even believe
you’re emailing that account because I’m getting new mail at (email address)
every day but nothing from you at all. If you’re using an automated system,
have you checked that it wasn’t entered incorrectly? Once again I’ve
attached a screen shot showing me checking my mail and there’s nothing from
you there. I won’t be seeing Joules till the weekend and this has gone on
long enough! All i want is the name servers changed over!Do you have access to change it over? if so, please do so to
(holdfire name servers)
I was able to change twinlove and that site is back up, but your emails for
earthjoules are just not coming! Ever since I changed my hosting packing,
I’ve had even more problems with this company! Please for goodness sake,
just change my name server for me or forward the emails to this email.
They only reply at night (I’m guessing they’re centered in a different timezone), so half way through the day I cave and get Joules to email me a picture of her ID.
Ok, here is a photo of Joules’s id.
Will you please now send the info for earthjoules.com to “poetess@shaw.ca”?
