Crocheted Dalek from Doctor Who! Side View! Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!! Ok, so this is the master peice I’ve been working on this week that I couldn’t talk about. Yes ladies and gentlemen… I crocheted a Dalek. As some of you know from previous posts, my darling Andy loves Doctor Who and today is his birthday! Now, he didn’t really want to celebrate it or anything, but of course I wanted to do something a little special for him.  And this is the result!!!! These pictures arn’t the best, I’ll have bigger ones on my Flikr later today, but what do you think?? The mid section was something called a “pop corn stitch” and it was zomg hard to figure out.  I was going to use beads originally, but they were too small.. so i looked up some patterns, and they were all ugly and complicated… so i kinda just grabbed some ideas from here and there and figured out my own pattern!

Crocheted Dalek from Doctor Who Front View! I was espcially pleased with the arms cause they were kinda hard to make.  I improvised w/ pipe cleaner and black beads.  The hardest part was the verticle bars.  It’s this idea i had in my head that seemed totally awesome, and um.. wasn’t so awesome in practice. What i did was crochet 3 sc in 3 stitches, and then chain 5 in the 4th and then do 4 sc’s back down; rinse and repeat and so forth.  So it kind of looked like this tentical thing..  (raaaawr i r c’thulu meow!! watch me wreck your mom! oops. wait no), anyways!!!!!!!!! then i crochet’ed the solid row’s of black (2 rows of dc) and then tied the tentical end thingies back when i started the gray again, so they would have depth… but some of them are a little crooked.  :(   Oh well! Andy loved it I think, and I adore him, so it was all worth it.  There’s a guy at work who was amazed by it and wanted me to make one for him too but it’s so much work and i barely have any time as it is so eeeeek. i can’t really, but i’m so bad at saying no ><!

Andy holding his Crocheted Dalek doll! Isn’t he adorable!?? Andy looked so adorable holding the Dalek that I had to take a pic of it and show the world.  They’re soooooo cute together!!!1  I also got him a few awesome Threadless shirts and a recylcling box.  Because everyone should recycle!!1 *cue stern glare*

So now I’m working on finishing my moogle for Joules and if it turns out well I might make a few more for some certain awesome people! And I’m pretty much done the bumble bee head, I’ll prolly knock that off tonight.  Also! One last final note, i finally got the new comic up! Oh Oh, and one more last final note, It’s snowing like crazy right now. The hell is up w/ that?

Wow! I am so impressed with your crocheting skills. At first I thought it was a lighthouse, LOL, but then when I clicked the Wiki link I was blown away with how good it looks!

I heard Vancouver got dumped with snow. :P
The guy in front of us at the airport was laughing because my hometown was just a mess, and we probably wouldn’t get in. We did. =)

Whoa, you’re really good! I don’t have the patience for that kind of stuff!

That is quite possibly, no, that IS the cutest Dalek ever. (Granted, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cute Dalek to begin with.)

Even the good Doctor himself would be super impressed and quite possibly not kill that one. Awesome job! What’s next, a crocheted sonic screwdriver?
