Sewing Itch

Hello day 1 of my four day weekend vacation <3! *kiss kiss* *hug hug*

Yesterday after work, Joules and I went to “Fabricland”  1 as she wanted to buy some “jersey” fabric  2 to  make some cute little summer dresses.

As soon as we walked in, her jaw essentially hit the floor.   I didn’t know that she had never been to this store this mecca of text tiles and colors and patterns before.  We also found out, it was a great time to show up as everything in the store was pretty much between 50% and 70% off.  Even the items that were not on sale were still 20% off.

For members only.

If you were lucky to have a membership.

I, of course, have a membership ~_~

I could have gone crazy, but I’m trying to be good with money right now.  That, and both of us were over whelmed by the choices.  In the end, i selected three patterns with the intent of sewing a few skirts,  3 and 2 lining fabrics.  So over 5 meters of fabric for less than $20.   Such a good deal!!!1

Would you like to see pictures?? Yes of course you would.  You’re all so very kind <3

This is going to make a very lovely skirt!!!  ((I hope! >< )) I love how flow-y the fabric is.  I chose a nice  dark pink/dusty rose lining fabric for it, that you can see just a hint of on the top corners.  This one I want to keep short, just at the knees.  Also, I’m thinking gathered a bit at the top, in a 3 inch waist.

This one is going to make a a delicious pencil skirt.  It’s a nice dark and heavy tweed.  As soon as I got it cut, Joules found the exact same in brown.  I almost died.  4  She bought it, so I’m just hoping that what ever she makes one day, I’ll get to borrow.  When i cut the pattern, there will be so much of the grey left over at the top.  I’ll have tons left over! What to make, what to make?

And last, but not least….

This fabric is my favorite of the three.  It’s like someone just doodled on fabric.  All these beautiful little flowers and swirls and detail.  It makes me think of so many things.  I’m making a floor length skirt with this fabric, just because of how lovely this it is.  I have to see lots of it! I chose a light cream liner for it, which will help it keep its shape a bit.  It’s the one I’m making first.  Eeek!  I’m going to try and finish it this weekend! Wish me luck ~_~

 Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

PS. The funniest part of the trip last night, in a little ironic sort of way, was that the “jersey” stuff she wanted was pretty much the only thing not on sale and was $22/m so Joules bought barely anything! But we’ll go back, oh yes, one day.

  1. the biggest fabric/sewing store in Victoria []

I LOVE the last fabric! Seriously, love it. Do they sell it online as well? I swear the only fabrics our local stores sell are the overly froufrou or really gouche ones. I’m so picky. That fabric would make a great peasant shirt too! Totally share pics with the finished product!
