So many hobbies!! Bad Christine!!

So many hobbies… so little time. I just love being crafty. I can’t help it. I want to craft all day long. When I fall asleep at night, I think about patterns and wool and ideas and time management and things I need and want to finish and things i want to try!!!!1 *explodes*
First off, I’m crocheting a blanket of granny squares. The theme is light olive/forest-y green and beige. And periodically some of the squares have pink centers to give it a cherry blossom like spring feeling. I’m very excited about this blanket as I’ve never crocheted anything this big before. It’s not particularily complicated but actually accomplishing a finished product of any size makes me happy. That and i’ve always wanted to make one.
Secondly, i’ve been requested at work to make a cat hat! for someone at work . And I’m fine w/that… but.. (always a but w/ this kind of thing!) She didnt buy the wool that I recomended… that style of cat hat needs a chunky wool. And i told her that… i even directed her to walmart where they have a fantastic chunky wool for only $3 a ball that’s actually good quality… and what does she buy? This terrible bright blue Red heart thin thin thin wool…. that I’m having to double ply just to try and add some weight and it takes almost twice as many crochet stitches so it’s taking me twice as long >< And I don’t like the feel or color… and for those of you that knit/crochet, you know how hard it is to finish a project when you don’t enjoy what you’re working with. *sigh*
Also, I’ve been feeling the urge to start cross stitch >< But I’m scared that I will become addicted to it. But looking at what some people can make, like my dear friend Hev, I want to do ittttttttt. I was looking at paterns and beginning projects and there was this adorable flowers and butterflies pillow case motif. SO PRETTYYYY. Must resist for now… but i’m caving. I can feel it.
And lastly!!!!!!!! I have two comics that i’ve been working on this week. Both are extra cute in my opinion… so people who suffer from cute overload, be careful come this friday! It’s not finished yet.. but i will not FAIL!!! EVERY FRIDAY OR DIE continues! CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!
And one last question to whoever reads this and may know off hand. What’s a good word press plugin for plugging people who comment on mysite? So that they appear at the bottom of the post? I want to give props to my lovely readers and I’ve googled it a bit and I’m not sure which one to try. Any advice is appreciated!

I taught myself to cross stitch caused it annoyed me to have a needlework craft that I couldn’t do. But it is addicting so that is your warning.
I do understand about working with yarn that you don’t like the feel of. I have the same problem with my floss and I had or have the same problem with yarn when I crochet or knit. That is why I dislike purchasing cross stitch kits, with those I can’t use my DMC floss thread. I am very picky about my supplies I use no matter what craft I am doing.
Oh, Christine I wanna see your granny square quilt. Post a pic please! I show you mine, I wanna see yours, lol. *hugs*

Ohw, you seem so creative! It must be spending your time like that though. I wish I could cross stitch a little more at the moment, but college *blablabla*… I almost finished my second ‘project’ though and I’m getting the hang of it so… that’s a start.
Yeah, I’d love to see pictures anytime soon ^^

Hev is very helpful with cross-stitch questions! I couldn’t make a french knot to save my life but she provided very helpful links.
I’d be really excited to see your cross-stitch creations as it’s been a hobby of mine since I was a child. It’s incredibly time-consuming though and you can look up at a clock and find yourself five hours into the future – and not even feel it!

Getting crafty is good! I think the added variety of activities in your life is a good idea.
If you’re worried about spending too much or little time on things, maybe you should plan out how you’ll spend your time.
There’s nothing worse than overloading yourself with too many things to do. Especially when you have *must* do things like school or work.

The color theme of your granny square blanket sounds so beautiful. I can’t wait to see pictures!
I haven’t worked on any thing in a while. I made a purse where one side was 9 granny squares, and I would love to make a blanket next. I connected them like if I was sewing though (put them flat together and crocheted a chain down one side to connect them. It worked well for the purse because the seams made the outside look like patchwork and you couldn’t see the inside, but I don’t want it to look like that on the back of my blanket. I was thinking of just looping yarn through. Hmmmm *ponders* How do you connect yours??

For different projects I’ve done what you did on your purse and crochet-chained them together. But the pattern for the blanket I’m doing says to face the squares like to like, and just use a darning needle to stitch them together like.. \\\ that kind. makes sense? that way they’re firmly together but more flexible and blanket like! I’m going to post some early pics of the squares i’ve made so far tonight since ppl seem excited. i know i’m excited!!!
also! i’ve been thinking about doing a granny squar purse too. Maybe make a knitting bag? As right now I carry my stuff around in a plastic bag
Did it turn out? You have pics of it anywhere?
