I’m having all sorts of website problems. <del datetime="2010-04-09T16:33:48+00:00">In fact, in the course of writing this post, I’ve discovered my CSS is broken somehow But that’s not what this post is about.</del> lol! I forgot it was CSS Naked Day! Gotta love the WP plugin!

This post is about a recent email chain between Canaca.com and myself over the last week as I’ve struggled to get my two addon domains (twinlove and earthjoules) back up and running.

Recently I changed my hosting package over to Holdfire, (thank heavens), but my domains could not be switched as it’s a service they don’t offer at this time.

While I was changing the name servers for crumpledpaper.ca, i guess i forgot to change them for the other domains. Bad Christine! But they were only suspended last weekend so I didn’t make the connection. I was worried it had something to do w/ Holdfire, but Jordan pointed me in the right direction (thanks!) and so begins the long process of trying to get the login/password for the two domains.

I open up the exchange by submitting a ticket that says:

Hello!
My addon domains have been suspended! Can I please have the login/passwords for twinlove.ca and earthjoules.com?

Thanks!
Christine

They reply:

Hello,

I sent your addon domains login information to their contact email addresses:

twinlove.ca >> (my email address)
earthjoules.com >> (twin’s email address)

With this information please login on the below link and change your DNS server:

http://canaca.com/domain-R.htm

A movie tutorial may be helpful, you can check it on:

http://www.canaca.com/canaca_democenter/dns/dns_opensrs.htm

Best Regards,
Canaca-Com Inc. Please mail us about the quality of your experience at feedback@canaca.com

Okay, okay, at this point i’m okay. Joules originally purchased EJ so it makes sense that it would go to her, and I have her password so it’s not a big deal. I received the TL login right away, (in three emails!) so I go check her email and there’s nothing! I wait a day, and still nothing.

So I reply:

Thanks so much!

I received the info for twinlove, (got three emails actually ), but I
recieved nothing at my joulesrocks acct. Is there anyway you could send it
to this one?

They reply:

Hi

I sent your domains login information in another tickets to the related contact email addresses:

twinlove.ca –> [poetess@shaw.ca]

earthjoules.com –> [joulesrocks@homtail.com]

You can access your domain’s management area via following link and change your domain name servers:

http://www.canaca.com/domains.html

Best Regards,
Canaca-Com Inc.
Please mail us about the quality of your experience at feedback@canaca.com

They’re still not coming through. So I reply:

I don’t know why but they’re just not coming through. I’ve attatched a
screen shot of my email screen showing my mail for the last however long.
I’ve also checked the junk to make sure it isn’t be filtered by accident.
Please change earthjoules contact info to this email address or give me the
steps on how to change the email. This site has been down for almost a
week. I’ve paid for the domain and I’d like to resolve this as quickly as
possible.

Thanks,
Christine M.

They now reply:

Hi,

I sent “earthjoules.com” domain login information in another ticket to [joulesrocks@homtail.com] email address again.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,
Canaca-Com Inc. Please mail us about the quality of your experience at feedback@canaca.com

I’m getting a little annoyed at this point, but before I reply they send this:

Hello,

To change your domain contact email, please provide us with a photo ID of ‘Julianne McCallum’ for confirmation, then we will change it from “joulesrocks@homtail.com” to “poetess@shaw.ca”.

By the way,I sent the login information again. Please recheck your email.

Best Regards,
Canaca-Com Inc. Please mail us about the quality of your experience at feedback@canaca.com

Now I’m past annoyed and I kind of freak out.

You have got to be kidding. You don’t even ask for ID to set up accounts or
make payments! I’ve been paying for these domains for three years now and
your emails are not reaching that email account. I don’t even believe
you’re emailing that account because I’m getting new mail at (email address)
every day but nothing from you at all. If you’re using an automated system,
have you checked that it wasn’t entered incorrectly? Once again I’ve
attached a screen shot showing me checking my mail and there’s nothing from
you there. I won’t be seeing Joules till the weekend and this has gone on
long enough! All i want is the name servers changed over!

Do you have access to change it over? if so, please do so to

(holdfire name servers)

I was able to change twinlove and that site is back up, but your emails for
earthjoules are just not coming! Ever since I changed my hosting packing,
I’ve had even more problems with this company! Please for goodness sake,
just change my name server for me or forward the emails to this email.

They only reply at night (I’m guessing they’re centered in a different timezone), so half way through the day I cave and get Joules to email me a picture of her ID.

Ok, here is a photo of Joules’s id.

Will you please now send the info for earthjoules.com to “poetess@shaw.ca”?

Thank you so much.

They reply later that night:

Hello,

Unfortunately we have not received your attachment.
Please attach a copy of a photoID of “Julianne McCallum” to this ticket to confirm your request.

Best Regards,
Canaca-Com Inc.
Please mail us about the quality of your experience at feedback@canaca.com

HOW DID THEY NOT RECIEVE THE ATTACHMENT! i KNOW HOW TO SEND AN EMAIL. BAH.
I reply:

I sent it yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here it is again.

Please for the love of all that is holy send me the info to change the
nameservers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This morning I see this:

Hi

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience.

There was a typo in your domain contact email address which had caused this problem.

I have corrected your domain’s email address and sent your domain’s login information to “[email address]” again.

You can access your domain management area via following link:

http://www.canaca.com/domains.html

Please check it now and update us.

Best Regards,

As Sam said some time ago, I pretty much recycle the exact same code every time and just change the graphics. >< Butttttt, i likes it

Once again, it’s a hand drawn doodle, but with hints of color. Worried by the last time I tried to spice things up, I was pretty hesitant to add color at all. But I tried to make it a gentle coloring!

My comicpress theme that I’ve hacked and mangled and frankensteined to death is getting so messy that the next time I have more than one hour to devote to a face lift, I might just rewrite the whole thing fresh over. But as that is a highly intimidating thought! Odds are I’ll just keep recycling this one. Recycling is good for you!!

There’s a couple things I still need to do that I don’t want to forget, so i’m going to point form them for my own reference.

Switch over the emoticons.. (which i can’t do until I get home from work. )

Whip up a new cute default gravatar since it’s 9 billion layouts old.

Figure out why I can’t change the colors on my tag cloud even tho I changed them in the settings it’s just not working!!!1 grrr.

Edit the credits page accordingly.

re-size the header… I think it’s a tad too big.

Get a better RSS button.

I think that’s for now. If you have any critiques or nothing anything broken, please let me know!

*hug hug*

Wait-what? Oh yah, i knew that. And my blog does too I swear!!

As always, finding the time to sit down and draw out some ideas, and then scan and incorporate those ideas into a working layout, is a challenge. But I took an hour this morning before work to start on an idea I’ve had bouncing around my head for a while. I have hopes to complete it tonight when i get home. But that is rather ambitious of me considering i’m having dinner with a super good friend tonight, who happens to be in town at the moment.

Normally, Wednesday nights are D&D nights, but my oh so lovely boyfriend said we can move D&D to Thursday, and then my oh so lovely twin said we can move Crochet Club to Friday! (phew!)

Aisling just blogged about how good it is to be busy, and I definitely agree. It is good. But it’s also a little tiring. ~_~ So my “plan” is to go home tonight after dinner, and make a pot of coffee and draw/code/design/tweak till I can’t tweak no more. Or I pass out and drool over my laptop causing an electrical fire.

Happy Humpday!

Ps. What do you think is the greatest challenge of our present time?

I think I’ve mentioned here and there that I play in a D&D campaign every Wednesday night. In early December, we lost one of our players who had to move up province for work (sad-face), so we decided since we have to look for another player, it might be a good time to move from 3.5 Edition to 4.0. It might only be .5 on the scale, but the differences are noticeable! We’ve had three games now, and while it’s still taking a bit to get used it, it’s been quite enjoyable.

Andy, who is our DM, wanted to encourage us to create back stories, and so offered incentives based on how much effort we put into it. I decided to make a Bard this time around (my last character was an awesome dwarf barbarian), and I actually had a ton of fun researching the background of the world we’re based in and writing a bio. Anyone want to read it?? Of course you do! (My name is Quibby Kittenstouch and the last name was created by a generator i kid you not).

Quibby Kittenstouch was an orphan raised by the Priestesses of Sehanine Moonbow in a temple in Evereska. Evereska , also known to some travellers as LastHome, is an eladrin stronghold in North Faerûn . It is a beautiful valley encircled with twelve hills collectively known as the Shaeradim, which was sculpted into a large terraced garden, and inhabited by moon and sun elves. Quibby was born of a human man and a female moon elf. She has striking violet eyes, that she has been told looks just like her mothers, a rare eye color for a moon elf, let alone a half-elf. However, her long black tresses are told to come from her fathers side, as does her hardy build and strong jaw. As Everska is heavily elvish populated town, Quibby had always felt out of place, like a well cared for outcast, but an outcast all the same.

Soon after Quibby was born, her parents died in a terrible fire, and all that she has to remember them by is a harp that belonged to her mother and a short sword that once belonged to her father with a Purple dragon on the scabbard, The Seal of Cormyr.

Because half-elves take around twenty years to reach adulthood, while elves mature around 110 years, Quibby spent a lot of her time growing up alone, playing the harp and dreaming of the adventure that waited outside these valley walls. She tends to be over enthusiastic when meeting someone for the first time, and a little naieve. She can be headstrong but easily distracted when overly excited. She takes pride in both her backgrounds and collects odd human clothing to proudly display her heritage. Like most Half-elves, she has a natural ability to learn outside of their specialty, giving them a strength in adaptability. Despite the loneliness she feels at not quite belonging, she’s always worked well with others and instantly will lend a hand to friends or allies in need. This joyful light she possesses comes out through her music almost magically, like weaving a spell over her audience. The priestesses caring for her saw the potential in her and trained in her all musical styles, and theories. They hoped that Quibby would follow ways of Sehanine and stay in the temple but as she grew into her own person, it because clear through the pulling of her heart strings that she would follow the Goddess Avandra into the world.

Using her music as her means to freedom, she travelled to the city of Berdusk, known as the Jewel of the Vale, to apprentice as a Bard. Here she sought Twilight Hall, the base of operations for Harpers in the west and the north. (The Harpers operate mainly in the North Faerûn, along the Sword Coast, the Western Heartlands and the Dalelands). Quibby went before the Grand Masters asking if they would take her on as an apprentice and they told her the way of the Harper cannot be taught. It must be lived.

And so Quibby set off to see the world, playing her music for those in needs, adventuring for the cause of light. She carries around a battered scroll that has seen many travels that she reads before sleeping every night, the Harper’s code:

“Harpers work against villainy and wickedness wherever they find it, but they work ever mindful of the consequences of what they do.

All beings should walk free of fear, with the right to live their lives as they wish.

The rule of law aids peace and fosters freedom, so long as the laws are just and those who enforce them lenient and understanding.

No extreme is good. For freedom to flourish, all must be in balance: the powers of realms, the reaches of the cities and the wilderlands into each other, and the influence of one being over another.

Whatever it takes, a Harper will do. Pride never rules the deeds of a true Harper.

Freedom is a multiversal right, though Harpers can spare themselves less freedom than those they work to protect when the need presents itself.

Harpers police their own. A Harper who hears the call of personal power can no longer hear the sweet song of the harp. A Harper who seizes power, and holds it above all else, is a traitor to the harp.

Traitors must die for freedom to live.

Without a past, no being can appreciate what they have, and where they may be going.”

Hearing of a caravan traveling along the Delimbiyr Route, leaving from Secomber heading to Waterdeep on the west coast, Quibby thought it sounded like a perfect way to travel and meet adventurers and let Avandra and her magic loose on the world.

And so it begins…

So there you have it, i’m awefully geeky

Tee hee. One of the most exciting things about this new campaign, is that I’ve finally got Andy blogging. Half way through the last one, I started musing over how awesome it would be to have a website in which to keep track of our journeys and adventures and loots and so forth, Especially since Andy often incorporates small details sometimes 6 months later that ties the whole story together. But with all the sites I already have to maintain and with al my crafting and what not I didn’t know if I had time to really do it. So Andy stepped up to the plate and has jumped into the world of blogging, tee hee. It’s so awesome, that we can sit together while we drink coffee and both be updating our sites. ^^

If you want to check it out, it’s http://dnd.crumpledpaper.ca!!

Now that it’s getting chilly out there, it occurred to me that I should prolly make a pair of arm warmers for myself too! So i whipped these guys up on the weekend, and I have to say, I loved how they turned out <3!

Also in the realm of craftiness, I just finished updating Twin Love with my newest creation, Wandering through Dreams at Night. I had so much fun creating that necklace!!

I’m starting to finally get into the spirit of promoting myself too. For so long, when ever anyone complimented my things, I’d thank them, blush and hurry away to the darkest nook or cranny. These days, when someone compliments something I’ve made, I hurriedly dig through my purse and hand out business cards! Tee hee They’re nothing fancy of course, just something i made up on PSP9 and printed off on those perforated card sheet thingies. But it’s something else to get excited about!

I hope all of you are having a fantastic Monday!

And let me leave on a question, what kinds of things do you get excited about?
